  • I am running Access 2002 service pack 3 on Windows XP professional service pack 3. I have an application that is shared by two users. They can both add invoices at the same time with no problem, however when one of them goes to add another Vendor (Vendor Master Table) that is not currently listed Access will not let her add the vendor and gives her an error that someone else is using the system. The settings in the advance tab of the Options drop down are as follows: Default open mode, Shared; Default record locking, No locks; Open databases using record level locking is checked. How can set the system to allow additions to the Vendor table while another using is inputting invoices? Your attention in this matter would be greatly appreciated.-- Bruce

  • When I first started using Access and had no understanding of normalization I made a database for scientific data whose data table contained fields for SampleID, DataID, and one each experiment we conducted and we put data in it. This table contained over 100 fields. I later realized my error and made a new database whose data table contains the following fields: SampleID, DataID, Property, Method, Numeric Results, TextResults, and Units. Is there a way I can get the from the old table into the format of the new table with out manually retyping all of it? I'd like the field names to go into the Property field and any value in the table to go into the results field. One record from the old table would have between 1 and 10 records in the new table. It would be alot less work to fix the records from that point and produce fewer typing errors. Thanks. Marcie

  • I am fearful of modifying the unicode property programtically with the following snippeApplication.CurrentDb.TableDefs("Table1").Fields("Field1").Properties("UnicodeCompression").Value = TrueI have some 30 tables that participate in relationships that I would like to set uncode to yes to see if the performance can be imporved.When I set the property manually I get messages during the save "Errors were encountered during the save opoeration. "Data type were not changed." .. "Indexes were not added or changed". If I manually delete the relationship there is no issue with the save.Because of the number of changes required the VBA snippet would work well but I have no idea what is happening to the Indexes and relationships in the darkness of night so to speak. If I do it manually, first deleting the relationship and then restablishing the relationship I have a higher degree of confidence but it is a lot of steps and work I could easily mess up.Does anyone know what I can expect if I use the VBA snippet?

• Contact Management Database Problem
  • I have installed the "Contact Mangement" Database. The problem I am having is when I open the Contact Details Form in the design view and then Insert a new page, two items show through from the first page. The Address Label and the + - Images label. I loaded this from the Access 2007 featured on line templates. I just can't seem to figure out how to have them not show on that second page, or second tab. Oh, Also, if I copy the contacts data group (Name, address etc..) and past it on the second page they show through to the first page with a slight alignment issue it really show up. • Losing Sql Indexes When Linking Into Access 2000
  • Hi there-I have yet to find an answer for this issue. I have tables that are in an SQL environment that I then link into an Access 2000 database. In SQL, some indexes are created on the fields-some of the indexes are on multiple fields. The indexes are not primary and not unique. For some of the tables, when I create the linked table, I get the indexes coming in just fine. I never select a unique record indicator when prompted since there are rarely instances where any field is 'unique' in that way (any of them give me the primary key if I were to click on them which would mess with how the data is presented). The problem is that some of the tables, which I know have indexes on them in SQL-do not have the indexes coming along with them when I link them in Access 2000. Previous versions of the database, in Access 2000, have not had this issue. The version of SQL is also the same. I am stumped as to what can be causing this-is it a 'bug' in Access 2000 or in SQL?   • Hi, I have an Access program that I package with Access runtime using office developer 2000. I sell this program to raise money for St. Judes Hospital and have very few install problems. I currently have a user that when he runs the setup program he gets an error stating that some system files need to be updated. He then gets an option to update the files and if he clicks yes something happens and then he get a message that setup needs to be run again.   • I'm looking to create some software in Access2007 with a good deal of split forms with datasheets taking up most of the screen. I have a nice little button to Show/Hide fields that works well. I do a DoCmd.save after the call to show/hide fields so the new datasheet layout is saved. This is similar to most of the Microsoft templates.All works well.Now I change the database to an ACCDE.No more saving allowed.Anyone have a good solution to replace this functionality? Something to think about with newer versions of Access as well (can datasheets work and be flexible with columns shown/not shown in an ACCDE). You can change the layout just not leave the form and come back with it remembering the layout. In my case it's not much good if it doesn't remember.Would love to hear any ideas,Mark

  • I am wanting to now if the following:Microsoft Office Access Runtime and Data Connectivity Components 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2)will fix the problem with the access database not exporting a report to excel. I know the office 2007 service pack 2 will fix this problem for the full version of Access but what about the runtime that is distributed. Looking to see if someone reading here might know the solution...A snippet (see below) of an Excel file that I tried Access linking to Excel...the Color "3R3" below links in Excel as #Num! (a dealbreaker).If I save as a DBaseIV, any Color NOT readable as a number arrives as a Blank.Also, saving as a DBF changes all the "GoPK" below to a Date..IE 9/10/09. I can deal w/ that in the VBA code I use working w/ the DBF. I had hoped to either bring in a GoPk (IE...9/10/09 6:49:09 AM) as a Date (w/time), or use as a PK (as a text)..which would be unique combined w/ Booth as a multi-key PK.   • My first is, when I open certain databases normally, I can right click on a form, table or query and go to design view, or click file and at the bottom select the database I am in and it shows the objects, however in some databases I have to hold shift to do this. What is causing this to happen and how do I turn it off?My second question is, I am trying to import an excel spreadsheet onto a table. The table and the spreadsheet have 2 fields, SSN and NAME, SSN being the pk. I keep getting an error saying "field F1 doesn't exist in the destination table".   • I need some guidance and perhaps some inspiration. I'm working on a database containing a main form with 2 subforms side by side. Subform1 is a continuous form that has records about the positions a military unit has. Subform2 is a continuous form that starts out wth no records.Basic Subform1 record fields: UIC, Para, Line, Auth Str, Req StrCombo PK on UIC, Para, LineWhat I'm trying to do is to 'maybe' click a command button on a record in Subform 1 and have the data of that record append to Subform2. While doing this it should subtract 1 from Auth Str and Req Str, and change the appended record's UIC to the contents of an unbound text field on Subform2. If Auth Str and Req Str would end up being "0", then it should append then delete that record from Subform1. When the append to Subform2 takes place, it should either add that record, if it doesn't exist, or add 1 to the Auth Str and Req Str.In case the user made a mistake, Subform 2 will have a similar command button to carry out the same action.I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

  • Hi everybody,Since years I have an Acces 2k program with forms and reports.Each Forms contain an BoundObjectFrame, which links to the appropriate TIF images, using VBA.Each Reports have the same (ImageControl) in order to print a sheet conaining data and the TIF image.Since this MDE program is now, for the 1st time, installed on an Office 2007 suite, with Access 2007, the images do not display at all and reports print a blank image.And without any err message at all.Any similar experience on that subjet will be greatly appreciated.Many thanks in advanceBruno

  • I am helping the owner of a table who inherited a database that needs to be re-disigned in the future. For now, she has a form where the user selects the employee name from a drop-down list. (The values are from a separate table.) When the name is displayed, a separate field displays the associated employee number (dlookup is used to display the number). The employee name is saved to a table but they also want to save the employee number. (I know this isn't good database design, but it isn't my db.) The transmission is a Yes / No field on the table; the transmission details are in a separate table. I only want the information to appear if the account has a transmission associated with it.   • I have an application front end which was written in Access 2002 but seemed to work OK in 2007 Runtime simulation so decided to convert to 2007 and then to install Runtime 2007 for those users without Office 2007 and have them run the application under that (XP OS). Conversion OK, and application works fine under full Access 2007, but under 2007 Runtime errors occur where Date() is used either as part of a query or default value for field on a form. Am experimenting by using Now() instead (which appears to be more reliable) but wonder if anyone has any other ideas as this is quite tedious since this is a large application.

  • I have a database with loan numbers and issues/incidents associated with the loans. Is there a way to lock the information, once it's been entered? I've already had a couple of loan numbers deleted by other users in my department.   • This should be very simple but I cannot seem to get it to work. I have a form that has 2 combo boxes. The first one is the supervisor and the second is the specialist. I want the specialists to change when the supervisor is changed. I have read and re-read the postings that say to do a Me.Requery in the After Update event of the driving combo box (In this case - Supervisor). The supervisor combo box is driven by a query and the specialist combo box is driven by code on the Row Source. Since I am using both combo box values to feed other queries, I have moved each to textboxes.Supervisor is ComboBox 17 and the value goes to textbox 37Specialist is ComboBox and the value goes to textbox 52Everything works fine on the first supervisor chosen and I can change the specialist all day long with no problem. But when I chose a different supervisor, the specialist values do not update. Why? Ideas?

  • Hi The problem I have is this. I have 3 reports with its own report headers and page headers. I created the main report where I placed these 3 subreports and I created group header to see page headers in my report. The problem is with subprojects report headers, because when I preview my main report I see there first page hearers, then subreport report header and then the data – it looks weird.
