  • I have an Access database that is linked to a Sharepoint list.Recently lost a form trying to incorporate a subform and lost all thecode behind it so I'm recreating the form now, but in the process oftesting - found that I needed to re-import/re-link a list fromSharepoint. Problem now, is that it appears several of the fieldsthat were there before no longer appear - I confirmed in Sharepointthey are still there, but Access doesn't show it.   • I'm trying to create a word document based on some data in an Access database, and using some rather convoluted business logic. I don't want to have to field a document template with my application, so I would like to create this document from scratch, each time the user selects this option.I've figured out the processes for opening Word (with either GetObject or CreateObject), and creating a new document based on the normal template. What I need to know now is how to:1. Insert text into a blank document. I've found a couple of posts on how to place bookmarks, and paste text at the bookmarks, but this is not possible without sending the document template.2. Format text as bold/underline (Would like to turn this on and off prior to inserting some of the text), and then return the format to normal3. Change the font and fontsize (again, would like to be able to do this before inserting a block of text and turn it off at the end of the block)4.   • Hello all - I have a table with 6 fields and 1100 records. I use a crosstab query to view the data in the format I need. That works great. When I try to export it to Excel, however, I get an error of too many fields defined. Using the compact and repair utility does not help. I use TransferSpreadsheet in a macro to move the data to Excel. The error also occurs if I try to export from the query. Any help would be very much appreciated.

  • I am fearful of modifying the unicode property programtically with the following snippeApplication.CurrentDb.TableDefs("Table1").Fields("Field1").Properties("UnicodeCompression").Value = TrueI have some 30 tables that participate in relationships that I would like to set uncode to yes to see if the performance can be imporved.When I set the property manually I get messages during the save "Errors were encountered during the save opoeration. "Data type were not changed." .. "Indexes were not added or changed". If I manually delete the relationship there is no issue with the save.Because of the number of changes required the VBA snippet would work well but I have no idea what is happening to the Indexes and relationships in the darkness of night so to speak. If I do it manually, first deleting the relationship and then restablishing the relationship I have a higher degree of confidence but it is a lot of steps and work I could easily mess up.Does anyone know what I can expect if I use the VBA snippet?

  • I have installed the "Contact Mangement" Database. The problem I am having is when I open the Contact Details Form in the design view and then Insert a new page, two items show through from the first page. The Address Label and the + - Images label. I loaded this from the Access 2007 featured on line templates. I just can't seem to figure out how to have them not show on that second page, or second tab. Oh, Also, if I copy the contacts data group (Name, address etc..) and past it on the second page they show through to the first page with a slight alignment issue it really show up. To be able to change the background colour of a control at the whim of the user independently of the value in the control, however, you will need to add another column to the table for each column you wish to highlight. These extra columns can be of Boolean (Yes/No) data type so that their values can be toggled between True and False, providing a basis for an expression on which to base the conditional formatting. Taking a hypothetical example lets say you have a column HoursAM which records the morning hours worked by an employee. You'd add a Boolean column to the table, blnHoursAM say. In the DblClick event procedure of the HoursAM control on your form change the value of the blnHoursAM column in the current row of the table with: Me.blnHoursAM = Not Me.blnHoursAM This simply toggles the value of blnHoursAM between False and True. You don't need to include a control bound to the blnHoursAM column in the form; it just has to be in the form's underlying table or query. To conditionally format the HoursAM control on the basis of the value in the blnHoursAM column, in the conditional formatting dialogue for the blnHoursAM control select 'Expression is' from the combo box on the left, enter [blnHoursAM] in the text box to its right (make sure you include the square brackets around the column name), and set the back colour to a colour of your choice. • Losing Sql Indexes When Linking Into Access 2000
  • Hi there-I have yet to find an answer for this issue. I have tables that are in an SQL environment that I then link into an Access 2000 database. In SQL, some indexes are created on the fields-some of the indexes are on multiple fields. The indexes are not primary and not unique. For some of the tables, when I create the linked table, I get the indexes coming in just fine. I never select a unique record indicator when prompted since there are rarely instances where any field is 'unique' in that way (any of them give me the primary key if I were to click on them which would mess with how the data is presented). The problem is that some of the tables, which I know have indexes on them in SQL-do not have the indexes coming along with them when I link them in Access 2000. Previous versions of the database, in Access 2000, have not had this issue. The version of SQL is also the same. I am stumped as to what can be causing this-is it a 'bug' in Access 2000 or in SQL?   • I just learned that it's possible to export presentation of forms and reports to xml, etc. type files. What I'm wondering is, is there a way to export just the presentation without exporting the data? For example, if I have a table with a lot of data in it and I just want to export the schema of the table, it seems that I should be able to do this but when I uncheck the checkbox for data, the presentation box unchecks and is grayed out. This seems silly. In MS SQL I can script an entire db schema regardless of the data thats in it. Would be nice to be able to do the same in Access. If I want to export the layout of an unbound form, it is not allowed. Why is this? Is there a way to do this that I am not aware of?Thanks,Keith

  • I'm looking to create some software in Access2007 with a good deal of split forms with datasheets taking up most of the screen. I have a nice little button to Show/Hide fields that works well. I do a DoCmd.save after the call to show/hide fields so the new datasheet layout is saved. This is similar to most of the Microsoft templates.All works well.Now I change the database to an ACCDE.No more saving allowed.Anyone have a good solution to replace this functionality? Something to think about with newer versions of Access as well (can datasheets work and be flexible with columns shown/not shown in an ACCDE). You can change the layout just not leave the form and come back with it remembering the layout. In my case it's not much good if it doesn't remember.Would love to hear any ideas,Mark

  • Hi,I have a Control button on a form that opens another form, I want to display a message pop up on the new form if a calculated value on that form is greater than 0, then the user can choose to close the new form or ignore the warning.If it's less than Zero, then i would disply a different pop up message.I have 3 problems,, and if anyone can help with any one of them,, i would be ever so greatful!1.   • I have set up a report that is actually just an information/direction sheet for my scheduling assistants. I all the margins are correct, it does not have a header or footer. When I go to print preview it comes up with 188 pages, and it is only a 2 page report; I am getting 94 sets of the same report. • Design Question (Normalization Versus Practical)
  • In my app I have a main table with about 22 fields of which 8 have repeating values which, according to normalization, require their own tables which should be linked by a meaningless ID number. Also this main table is linked to 2 1XM tables.On the other hand I'm quite happy with the table as it it. My forms load very quick, the datamodel is simple, I don't have to drag multiple tables every time I run a query. When I choose proper normalization I'm afraid to wind up with a very large datamodel which will load much slower. Also, I think it will make developing more cumbersome. The benefit I think will be a smaller *.mdb. Also when you want to change a value, you only have to do it once. But will it be worth the effort?Any thoughts?Thanks, Lars

Subform1 is a continuous form that has records about the positions a military unit has. Subform2 is a continuous form that starts out wth no records.Basic Subform1 record fields: UIC, Para, Line, Auth Str, Req StrCombo PK on UIC, Para, LineWhat I'm trying to do is to 'maybe' click a command button on a record in Subform 1 and have the data of that record append to Subform2. While doing this it should subtract 1 from Auth Str and Req Str, and change the appended record's UIC to the contents of an unbound text field on Subform2. If Auth Str and Req Str would end up being "0", then it should append then delete that record from Subform1. When the append to Subform2 takes place, it should either add that record, if it doesn't exist, or add 1 to the Auth Str and Req Str.In case the user made a mistake, Subform 2 will have a similar command button to carry out the same action.I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

• Current Average Problem
  • I have a database with two tables of relevance to the current problem. One is a record of WORK TITLES, with a PK autonumber field. The second contains a list of STUDENT WORK, which are populated with a studentId, and workId from the first table. I have created a query linking the two tables, and a form in which I can enter marks for each student. What I seem to have trouble doing is getting the form to put the current value of the average for the piece of work into the WORK TITLES table (a field showing in the form). I have played around with the field in which I enter the actual marks, and set the on Change property to DAvg("[Percentage]","ReviewPieceOfWork-Q","[ID]= [ID1] and [Percentage]<>0") where [ID] is the autonumber value, and ID1 is the alias of the field on the form (in other words, it calculates the average only for that piece of work). However, it seems to give me the value it was before the last change. If I put a local unbound field onto the form with the same syntax, it returns a different (correct) value. I have even tried changing the value to that of the unbound field but to no avail.Any ideas?

  • This should be very simple but I cannot seem to get it to work. I have a form that has 2 combo boxes. The first one is the supervisor and the second is the specialist. I want the specialists to change when the supervisor is changed. I have read and re-read the postings that say to do a Me.Requery in the After Update event of the driving combo box (In this case - Supervisor). The supervisor combo box is driven by a query and the specialist combo box is driven by code on the Row Source. Since I am using both combo box values to feed other queries, I have moved each to textboxes.Supervisor is ComboBox 17 and the value goes to textbox 37Specialist is ComboBox and the value goes to textbox 52Everything works fine on the first supervisor chosen and I can change the specialist all day long with no problem. But when I chose a different supervisor, the specialist values do not update. Why? Ideas?
